Meet the TORP Bike, one of the lightest electric dirt racing bikes

If you are looking for a high performance but lightweight electric motorcycle that you can use for dirt racing, look no further than the TORP Bike, the creation of Croatia-based TORP startup.

Everything about the bike is meant to reduce the total weight. The battery powered bike has one of the smallest power-to-weight ratio in the industry, with an electric motor that produces 15 kW of power. The bike weighs just 29 kg. It will reach a top speed of 50 miles per hour.

The battery, which weighs only 8 kg and is removable, has a 1.8 kWh capacity that allows you ride for 2.5 hours of intense off-roading experience. Notice the range is stated in riding time, not distance, which is common for bikes meant for dirt racing. But in real world terms, you can ride 68 miles on the machine. If you are bothered by this, you can carry extra battery packs as it relatively easy to switch batteries.

The battery itself is insane for the weight as batteries of similar capacities used in other electric motorcycles weigh as much as double. It will charge to 80 percent under 30 minutes but requires 1.5 hours for a full charge.

The frame, made from aluminium and shaped to use as less material as possible, makes it look rather simple and minimal.

Other features of the TORP bike include adjustable regenerative brakes, Bluetooth connectivity, Wi-fi, a 2.6 inch IPS color LCD display, etc. There is a dedicated mobile app as is common with modern bikes, which you can use to do diagnostics and monitor battery charge levels. TORP developed an in-house Battery Management System and electronic speed controller.

The TORP Bike has three ride modes, each with a fancy name. You are locked into the first stage Baby Blue when you start riding it, then move on to Rookie Green after unlocking the stage and finally the Bad-Ass Red, which unlocks the full speed. The

TORP is selling the bike for $7,900.

TORP was founded in 2016 and is focused on changing the way you see electric bicycles and motorcycle. It took the company more than four years to develop the TORP electric motorcycle.
